Play Dough

This afternoon I made a batch of play dough for Caroline and I to play around with.  She really didn't know what to make of it except that she figured out pretty quickly that it didn't taste so good!

Orlando Part 2

Later that day after the breakfast we had cake and ice cream for the birthday celebration.

The next several days Caroline and I hung out with whoever didn't go to the parks that day.  We chose to stay out of there because of the heat and humidity.  We'll take another trip down to Disney when she's older and when Jeremy can join us.  So instead, we rode the monorail, rode some of the ferries between hotels, went swimming, shopping and all sorts of other fun things where it was cool!

Aunt Jackie left Tuesday morning and Uncle Nathan, Aunt Lauren and cousins Hunter and Fisher left Wednesday morning.  Here's some group shots from Wednesday.

Cousins

Hey, who let that guy in here?!?!

This showed up the day before we left.
If you look very closely you can see a double rainbow.  (Click on the picture to make it bigger)

And that, in a nutshell, was our trip to Orlando!

Stair Climber

So after basically ignoring the steps for the last 5 weeks, Caroline all of a sudden decided to follow her daddy up the stairs. The first attempt was success! I took this video the next day - July 7, 2010.
*Note: This is an old post that didn't get posted to the blog when it was written so I'm posting now.

Trip to Orlando, Part 1

Last week Caroline and I tagged along with my family to Orlando.  Everyone else made a trip into Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, but because of the heat Caroline and I were happy to check out other stuff and hear all the stories.

The first day we were there we had breakfast with Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch.  It was an extra special breakfast because it was Caroline's cousin's 10th birthday.  Hunter even got a special birthday cupcake at the end of the meal.

Waiting patiently for our table.
Fisher is being so patient
Caroline loved Pluto!
The birthday girl getting a hug from Pluto
Lauren (my soon to be sister-in-law) and Hunter with Lilo
Lilo sneaking up behind Caroline (not good!)
Grandma and Grandpa getting a few chuckles with  Mickey
Getting that autograph booked signed by Stitch

This is one tired little girl

More to come from our trip to Orlando!  Be sure to check back!

12 month update

Twelve months.  One year.  Wow!  I would never have thought how fast the time would fly by.  It's been an amazing year getting to know Caroline.  She is truly a remarkable little girl.
Here's some stats from her check up:
Weight: 21 lbs., 9 oz.  This puts her her in the 60th percentile
Height: 30.5 in.  Holding strong in the 90th percentile!  So glad she has her daddy's long, lean body!
Head: 45.5 cm.  63rd percentile

The doctor said she looked great.  She got the go ahead to start on whole milk and to eat pretty much whatever we eat.  There's not too many things that she's not allowed to eat.

That same day we started her on milk and table foods.  We've also pretty much given up all bottles for her.  She drinks from her sippy cup for everything except her final bottle of the day.  We'll start working on giving that one up soon.  She resisted the sippy cups at first but within a day or two she didn't mind them.

As far as eating goes - there are not too many things that this girl doesn't like.  This weekend when we were at her grandma's house we discovered her love for hotdogs (much to Jeremy's delight)!  She put not one, but two hotdogs away in no time!

The biggest hurdle right now is getting her to feed herself with a spoon and fork.  She would so much rather feed herself with her fingers.  We're just going to have to keep after her with this.  And let me tell you this is a messy process!

She had a great time chasing me while I was trying to catch her picture!
