Tortillas

Caroline is a total carb lover.  Bread, pitas, cheerios, puffs, naan, tortillas...you name it, she probably loves it.  Here she is enjoying a tortilla.

Getting into things

This is what happened when I allowed Caroline in the kitchen to play with her fridge magnets (or so I thought).  In about 2 seconds flat, she had discovered the drawers and all the content within.

You know it's going to be a good day....

when you wake up and find two pacifiers in your crib!

May not know what to do with the extra one, but I'll figure something out.

Something's not right here.

Testing the waters

After a couple of weeks of busy afternoons and/or unseasonably cool weather, we finally had a free afternoon with lots of warm sunshine.  What to do?  Hit the pool of course!

We take it slow - getting Caroline used to the water.  It's a lot cooler than her beloved bath water!  She sits on top of her float for a little while.

Then she's ready to put her feet in.  Lots of kicking and splashing ensues.

We did a little bit of bobbing too and I showed her how to blow bubbles.  I think it's going to be awhile before she starts doing that.

I could not get a picture of her looking at me.  The camera on my phone is just too slow!

First time and definitely not the last time!

So, Caroline embarrassed me for the first time this weekend.  I know it won't be the last.

Saturday we were at the mall and she needed a diaper change.  So, off we went down this long hall towards the restroom with her in my arms.  She starts clicking.  This is her favorite thing to do right now.  She clicks all the time.  So, she's clicking as we're walking down this long hall, walking behind some guys.  I guess they heard this clicking so they turned around to see where it was coming from.  I'm sure they thought it was me clicking at them trying to get their attention.  So embarrassing!

I'm sure there will be many more embarrasing moments for me as Caroline grows up.  Of course, it goes both ways.  I'll have plenty of opportunities to embarrass her once she hits her teens!

Zip, Zip, Zoom!

So, yeah, this is way out of focus and yes, that's Jeremy napping in the background.  But it's the best I can do.  For some reason, Caroline usually won't let me film her when she's walking around.  I got her this time though!

Irvine has great parks

Since Caroline was born, we make at least one or two trips a week to the park.  Mostly it's to meet up with mommy friends, but sometimes it's just the two of us.  Irvine is such a great community and has hundreds (seriously) of parks.  Some are smaller, community parks but there are bigger ones too.  We went to one of the bigger parks today because I wanted to see all the flowers.

She's sneaky

Caroline likes to try to sneak out the door to the patio.

She knew she was busted!

Playdate with Abby

Yesterday Caroline had a playdate with her friend, Abby.  Abby is 16 months old (about 7 months older than Caroline.)  The two girls had fun playing together.  Caroline tried to keep up with Abby and followed her everywhere.  Abby showed Caroline a few things, but was also trying to protect her toys from Caroline.  This was Caroline's first experience crawling around on wood floors.  She discovered that her bare feet make some pretty cool noises.  Be sure to catch the end of video where Caroline is  trying to make a getaway with Abby's puppy that is three times her size!

Spring Party at the park

Today was the spring party for the MOMS club.  We had lots of good things to eat, an egg hunt and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Dancing Queen

This weekend Caroline discovered that she can dance. Jeremy was the lucky one who was home with her to catch it. He took a little video of it with his phone. She's standing at her music table and going to town. Look at those little legs go! (I hate to throw Jeremy under the bus over this, but he's the one that dressed her in that awesome outfit! :)

Busy, busy, busy

Here's an example of just how mobile and how quick Caroline is, not to mention what a ham she is.

Milestone Update

Caroline has been doing so much in the last few months and I am sorely behind in sharing all her awesomeness.  So here goes -

Teeth - she now has 3 teeth showing.  They are still working on getting all the way out there.  Her teeth have not followed the usual order.  The first tooth that made its appearance was her top right side tooth - not a middle tooth, but one next to it.  The next teeth to come in were her two bottom middle teeth.  The next tooth that is trying to break through  is the top left tooth.  She is going to be my little vampire baby!

Crawling, cruising, walking - Her crawling has progressed to cruising and she has even started using her little push toy and has been "walking" around the living room with it.  It's so cute.  Sometimes she just uses it to "knee walk" around too.  We've had to lower the mattress on her crib twice because she is constantly pulling up in there and we were a little worried that she might be able to climb out.

Gesturing - A couple of weeks ago she really started waving.  The first time she did it deliberately, it was like once she had figured it out, she was the master waver.  She seriously didn't stop waving for a week straight!  The very next week her specialty was clapping.  And the same thing happened - she would just spontaneously start clapping all week long.  Now she seems to have it figured out a little more and claps and waves at more appropriate times.
Clapping

Noises - We have been working on animal noises.  So far, she knows the sound a bee makes - buzz.  She's pretty good at that!  We're working on cats, dogs, cows and ducks now.

Eating - She continues to be a great eater.  She is still not a fan of the Gerber Yogurt Melts, but she'll eat them.  She has been working on tofu since last week and so far doesn't really like it unless I have it hidden in her other food.  I also broke down and started giving her Cheerios this past weekend.  And she loves them!  I have resisted the whole Cheerio thing because Jeremy has always joked that my car is going to be a "Cheerio Wagon."  Think of the cars that are covered in Cheerios and other snacks.  For right now, Caroline's eating is confined to the dining room in her high chair.  I'm not saying that this won't change, but this is how it is for now - no eating in the car!  (I don't think it's very safe anyways.  If she were to choke on something it would be hard to help her from the driver's seat.)

I'm sure there's something I've forgotten...when I think of it I'll share.

Night-Night, Little Pookie

I went in to check on Caroline this evening and this is how she was sleeping:
She sleeps on her stomach most of the time, but this time she had her hiney stuck way up in the air.  It was so funny.  She always sleeps with her little froggy lovey.

By the way, the title of this post is also the title of one of her favorite bedtime books and Pookie is one of her many nicknames.

Pre-Easter Fun

This weekend so far we have colored Easter eggs and visited the Easter bunny.  Caroline supervised the dyeing of the eggs while Mommy and Daddy did the honors.
